Boston Dynamics is seeking an ambitious Junior Engineer to join the Atlas Mechanical Engineering Group. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern on the Atlas program you will design mechanical parts and assemblies, build and test prototypes and perform experiments to validate design improvements. In this role, your tasks will range from working on individual components to fully integrated robots.

Day to Day Activities:
Work within a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design and support complex robotic systems
Plan and perform verification and validation testing on prototype and production systems
Design and develop new and novel features for existing products
Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause failure analysis and design/implement corrective actions to sustain existing products
Design and release parts and assemblies using Catia CAD software
Develop and maintain product support documentation including bills of material (BOMs) and detailed part/assembly drawings
Support system design analyses, including reliability, DFM / DFA, cost-reduction
Desired Education & Skills:
Current student enrolled in a Bachelor Degree program in Mechanical Engineering or Robotics Engineering
Passion and interest for robotics and mechanical design
Experience using 3D CAD tools (Solidworks, CATIA, etc.) including simulations (FEA) and generation of detailed 2D drawings
High level of technical writing proficiency (specs, test plans, reports, white papers, etc.)
Nice to Have:
Experience with Python, LabView, or MATLAB
Experience designing injection molded plastic parts
Exposure to ASME drafting standards including GD&T, (Y14.5-2018)
Experience designing motion control systems with sensors, actuators and mechanisms
Demonstrated internship experience designing and developing mechanical parts and assemblies for product applications (consumer, industrial, medical)
The hourly pay range for this position is between $30-$45/ hour. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills, education and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
