About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer II to join our engineering team. This role requires a proven technical leader who can drive complex projects, mentor team members, and make significant contributions to our platform's architecture and infrastructure. This person should be a highly-technical, hands-on engineer, who loves to work with data plane services like Cassandra, ElasticSearch, and Kafka, MySQL, PostgreSQL and is comfortable building automation around large-scale Kubernetes installations. We’ll be looking at candidate CVs with an eye on achievement -- what you’ve accomplished in the past tells us the most about what you can do for us in the future.
What You'll Do:
Technical Leadership & Architecture
Lead technical design and architecture decisions for major systems and infrastructure
Provide technical guidance and mentorship across engineering teams
Anticipate and proactively address technical challenges
Drive technical strategy and roadmap development
Platform Development & Ownership
Serve as primary owner and subject matter expert for critical product areas
Design and implement large-scale system improvements
Drive performance optimization and scalability initiatives
Collaborate with product management to align technical solutions with business objectives
Project Leadership
Lead complex, multi-phase technical projects from conception to General Availability (GA)
Manage technical dependencies and risk mitigation
Drive cross-functional collaboration and communication
Establish and track success metrics for major initiatives
Technical Excellence & Innovation
Implement and maintain best practices for Kubernetes Operator development
Drive adoption of emerging technologies and methodologies
Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
Contribute to system architecture and design decisions
Team Development
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
Participate in hiring and onboarding processes
Lead technical discussions and knowledge sharing sessions
Foster a culture of engineering excellence
What You’ll Need:
8+ years of software engineering experience
Proven track record of leading complex technical projects
Strong expertise in database technologies like Cassandra, Opensearch, Kafka, MySQL and PostgreSQL
Experience with large-scale distributed systems
Excellence in cross-functional communication
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Bonus Points:
Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
Experience with cloud infrastructure and microservices architecture
Contributing to open-source projects
Experience in agile development methodologies
