As a Senior Staff Electrical Engineer on the Atlas Actuation Technology team you will contribute every day to developing and improving our actuator products with your individual work and the mentorship and leadership your experience enables. With a role focus of Electronics Reliability Lead, you will be directly responsible for understanding the hardware defects affecting our actuator PCBAs, conducting failure analysis and setting priority for root cause analysis and fix development activities. You will be the first responder to most board failures and will coordinate downstream activities. You will play a major role in planning and executing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) that will merge fixes into the BOM so future robots can avoid repeat failures and more generally help manage the higher level actuator product and technology roadmap. You will not manage a team directly, but be responsible for efficiently maturing the Atlas product as it progresses to and into production!
How You Will Make an Impact / Day-to-Day Activities
Analyze board failures and perform root cause analysis on circuits ranging from high-power motor drives to high-speed communications
Collaborate with production and test teams to drive design improvements that increase yield and decrease process friction
Review and analyze data from robot logs, Jira issues, and automated tests to drive improvements into current and next-generation designs
Propose and execute design changes/ECOs by revising schematics and layouts of boards using HDI, controlled impedance, flex, and heavy copper technology
Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers to optimize robustness and reliability of a highly integrated and complex electromechanical assembly
Be a primary contributor to the actuation product and technology roadmap, championing what improvements should be made when and what technologies need investigation to provide value on future products.
