Role Overview

Connie Health is seeking a versatile and experienced Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this role, you'll be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend services that power our core products. You'll have full ownership of impactful projects, working on critical systems to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance as we continue to expand our impact on older Americans' healthcare journeys. You’ll work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment to empower our customers to make informed healthcare decisions and our Medicare agents to provide exceptional service. 

This is a hybrid role, based out of our new Boston office near South Station.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services using TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
• Contribute to the architecture and technical roadmap of our platform, ensuring long-term scalability and maintainability.
• Implement and optimize APIs, data models, and business logic for various features.
• Collaborate with product managers, machine learning engineers, and other software engineers to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality features.
• Write clean, well-tested, and efficient code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
• Optimize existing services for performance, scalability, and security.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience focused on backend software development.
• Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and NodeJS.
• Experience with SQL databases, PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Solid understanding of API design principles and experience building REST APIs.
• Experience integrating with third party APIs.
• Experience with testing, debugging, and performance tuning backend applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NestJS.
• Proficiency with Docker for containerization and deployment.
• Experience integrating with Salesforce APIs.
• Experience with AWS.
• Prior experience in the healthcare or insurance industry, particularly with Medicare.
• A product mindset with the ability to tie technical work to user outcomes and business impact.
