Job Summary
Boston Dynamics Consulting exists to help make remarkably capable robots commonplace in the physical world. The Senior Consultant – Electromechanical Engineering is critical to the growth of our core business and products by working directly with customers and internal teams to develop engineered solutions that help our Fortune 500 & high value customers do more with our existing robotics products and achieve their automation and data needs using our products. To do this, you will build in-depth knowledge of our robotics & software solutions and demonstrate the ability to think strategically and define clear requirements for electromechanical systems and software solutions that achieve our customers’ needs, while also contributing knowledge and support back to our core platforms and architectures.
The Senior Consultant works directly with external clients and project leadership on paid engagements to execute the development and delivery of electromechanical systems largely for payloads and systems built on top of our core physical platforms. This team member should have experience in projects related to customization of our core platforms, application development or sensor / payload configuration, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or other complex systems development, and comfort or experience in rapid prototyping environments. They will learn from and synthesize insights from our customers, Consulting leaders, product leaders and external experts to successfully deliver systems and designs that unlock robotics systems in the customer environments.
Support Project Directors & Software Leaders to develop and deliver custom electromechanical solutions that integrate with our core robot and fleet management products to accelerate the adoption of robotics & intelligent systems in dynamic environments.
Act as an external-facing technical representative, leveraging deep product knowledge to synthesize customer insights into actionable technical solutions and custom applications
Work as part of a cross-functional team to support the development and implementation of payloads or mechanical physical systems that scale across autonomous systems.
Drive resolution of complex, high-risk technical challenges in projects that span perception systems, controls systems, safety systems, advanced compute, and hardware/software integration
Prepare executive-level presentations and technical documentation that summarize key findings and deliverables.
Assist in facilitating technical requirements and sprint planning sessions.
Move fast, but intentionally, to bring new technology tools that help guide our investments in core robotics / software capabilities, tools, and infrastructure
Stay informed on industry developments and share insights with relevant stakeholders.
Owns delivery of impactful electrical and mechanical solutions & technical planning. Ensures alignment across complex interdependent systems. Analyzes and prioritizes development and uses the most effective and efficient processes to get things done and achieve results, even under tough circumstances.
Collaboration
Cultivates high-trust relationships with senior technical leaders and executives. Builds consensus across diverse perspectives and functions to move client projects forward on key technical decisions, while creating a feedback loop to our core products.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Expertise in electromechanical system development and engineering platforms, as well as physical AI systems.
Knowledge or experience in robotics (especially our core platforms), embedded systems, perception systems, or related fields.
Strong grasp of hardware/software trade-offs and cross-disciplinary systems thinking.
Ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable requirements.
Organized and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Typical Qualifications
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in robotics or physical systems software engineering or embedded systems development.
Experience working in cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment preferred.
Experience in rapid prototyping environments.
