Lead AWS Cloud Engineer - Remote / Telecommute

Pay Range: $83.63hr - $88.63hr

Job Overview:

• The candidate performs complex analysis, design, development, automated unit and integration testing, and debugging of computer software ranging from operating system architecture integration and software design to selection of computer systems, language, and/or equipment. The successful candidate designs, codes, tests, develops, and documents application programs for computer systems. The candidate works with end-users and project stakeholders to define system scope and objectives. The candidate manages modifications to and maintenance of operational programs and procedures. The candidate leads stakeholder and product owner meetings to define software requirements and creates highly complex systems while acting as a mentor to junior engineers.

Essential Functions:

• Lead a team of software engineers in the design, development, and implementation of multiple applications.
• Perform and lead the detailed technical design, coding, code review, and testing of new applications and enhancements of existing applications.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for specified systems and their subsequent applications.
• Develop and analyze interface design documentation while complying with hardware and software systems standards and procedures.
• Deliver large systems for tens of thousands of users and ensure compliance with DevSecOps practices and policies.
• Identify gaps in requirements and solve problems for the supporting staff.
• Identify sequencing of services and technologies that are integrated in later phases of the project.
• Lead the evaluation of risk and opportunity impacts to existing or proposed projects and implement risk mitigation actions.
• Develop ways to improve performance and increase system availability while providing recommendations to infuse new technology.
• Compile, assess, and report data results from software testing and analysis.
• Support the Project Manager as the technical team lead on the project and estimate the technical costs of projects.
• Confer with clients to identify requirements and determine desired outcomes to formulate the design of the system or offer alternatives.
• Demonstrate experience with front-end and back-end programming and integration frameworks and tools.
• Assist in the estimation of development of application features.
• Identify, analyze, define, and coordinate user, customer, and stakeholder needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Manage technical resources including hardware, software, licenses, and services.
• Plan and lead transformation initiatives to new software architectures.
• Extend open-source libraries and systems as necessary to meet the needs of the team.
• Play a crucial role in product scoping and roadmap or architecture discussions.
• Continually evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices.
• Ensure code quality, deployment standards, and practices while mentoring junior developers.

Education Level:

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Requirements:

• The candidate must have 8 years of experience in software design and development, software test and evaluation, and software requirements management.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to work closely with Architects, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Value Stream Managers to provide insight into delivering business value.
• Expertise in decomposing functional and technical requirements into project activities and tasks.
• Ability to identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies while recommending industry best practices.
• Experience evaluating and assisting in the selection and procurement of hardware and software technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
• Advanced knowledge of database technologies including SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL.
• Fundamental knowledge of software engineering best practices, agile methodologies, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of test-first practices including Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
• Strong experience with Deployment, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, and Continuous Delivery processes and tools.
• Experience with deploying global applications and configuration management.
• Expertise in reviewing the work of other developers and providing feedback.
• Ability to communicate technical requirements to all levels of expertise.
• Proficiency in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
• Expert knowledge and understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
• Proficiency with integrating complex and existing systems.
• Expert knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript, C, and Python.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
