Position Overview

MxD is seeking an experienced and strategic Manager, Systems Integration Engineering and scale modernization efforts across the U.S. government-owned Organic Industrial Base (OIB). In this role, you will have a variety of responsibilities including technical contributor to specific projects, and be responsible for the sustainable implementation of projects at OIB facilities. Working and directing cross-functional team members and organizations from different facilities, partners and other resources will be required. This position will also support our federal grant applications, including proposal writing.

Candidates must have an understanding of areas such as control systems, networks, cybersecurity, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) integration. Ideal candidates will have experience working with the Department of Defense and other government stakeholders. This role will report to the Sr. Director, Engineering.

 Position Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight

  • Lead and oversee digital modernization assessments across OIB facilities
  • Provide technical guidance and real-time feedback to OIB stakeholders
  • Translate stakeholder needs into scoped modernization initiatives
  • Align with Gov Engagement on grant and proposal opportunities

Technical & Solution Leadership

  • Review and approve technical deliverables
  • Align solutions to opportunities and use cases
  • Oversee RFP and RFQ technical requirements

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Interface with plant leaders, operators, and military officers
  • Represent MxD at industry forums and events
  • Utilize industry and members in providing and implementing solutions
  • Lead tours of the MxD factory floor

Team Leadership & Project Management

  • Lead and coach direct reports if applicable
  • Track and report project progress and risks
  • Foster a collaborative, hands-on team culture
  • Develop and implement various methods to staff projects and awards
  • Grow staff (both direct and indirect)

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or similar degree
  • 6 years of experience in Engineering, preferred
  • Lead assessments of manufacturing operations and apply root cause analysis for modernization opportunities and recommend solutions
  • Create and update technical documents, including manuals, reports, and presentations
  • Provide digital manufacturing solutions to existing real-life problems as required
  • Generate project requirements for industry Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
  • Participate in MxD and industry forums, webinars, and other venues related to digital manufacturing
  • Use of project management skills to track and report progress of projects
  • Interface with MxD commercial and academic members on project design and implementation
  • Provide tours of the MxD factory floor to OIB stakeholders
