About the role

As a Frontend Engineer, you’ll be responsible for providing amazing user experiences for internal and external customers by maintaining and contributing to web applications and frontend infrastructure. You will collaborate with design, product, engineering, and business stakeholders to pull together all the threads that help us deliver quality user experiences across the web and mobile.

This team is responsible for the Coalition Control web application (as well as a few internal tools for administration and workflow efficiency). Policyholders and others use Control to understand their cyber risk profile and improve their security posture. The better visibility and tooling we give policyholders, the better they can protect themselves and get better terms in their coverage with Coalition. Win-win!

Responsibilities

  • Build high-quality user experiences for customer-facing security applications and internal tools
  • Contribute to our technical excellence through participating in code reviews, writing comprehensive tests, building reusable components, and giving input into our technical roadmap
  • Partner with Product Management and Design to sharpen requirements and solve customer needs
  • Collaborate with other engineers to plan, design, build, test and release features
  • While not a strict requirement, occasionally contribute to development of APIs

Skills and Qualifications

  • Curiosity and desire to learn how things work at the deepest levels
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience
  • 0-2+ years of internship and/or professional software development experience
  • Experience building web-based user interfaces with modern JavaScript or TypeScript, React, HTML, CSS and REST APIs
  • Ability to debug issues with tools like Chrome DevTools, Sentry and DataDog
  • Strong product sense and the ability to navigate ambiguity / get work done without a fully-fleshed out spec thrown over the wall to you
  • Experience with source control tools (e.g. git, GitHub)
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Experience with AI dev tools (e.g. Cursor, CoPilot, etc.)

Bonus Skills

  • Experience designing and building REST APIs with a server-side language (e.g. python)
  • Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
  • Experience with Next.js
  • Experience with Material UI or similar component library
  • Experience in cybersecurity (including coursework) or insuretech
