Elastic Stack DevOps Engineer (TS/SCI CI Poly Clearance Required)

North Point Technology is seeking an experienced TS/SCI Cleared Elastic Stack DevOps Engineer to provide support to an Elastic Stack Application involving a mission critical enterprise identity and access management system.   We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the development and operations of an enterprise application that visualizes identity and access management (IDAM) data related to authentication services across NGA and other DoD systems. The application is built on the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), and the role involves full lifecycle support including design, development, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

This program requires employees to have an active TS/SCI clearance with and SCI and must pass a CI Poly every 5 years.  If you have a Full Scope Poly, working this program will keep your Full Scope ACTIVE.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and deploy a log analytics and infrastructure monitoring solution using the Elastic stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Beats, and Kibana). This solution will act in support of an existing identity, credential, and access management (ICAM) system
• Deploy, configure, test, troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade Elastic clusters and environment
• Provide operational support for the deployed application, ensuring system availability and performance.
• Configure Kibana for end-user access using role-based filtering and/or multi-tenancy features Interface with other developers to integrate Elastic stack with existing ICAM baseline
• Plan resources and continuously optimize the infrastructure and configuration of Elasticsearch to maintain cluster health and search performance
• Validate and analyze complex data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
• Interface with other developers to integrate Elastic stack with existing ICAM baseline
• Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless authentication to NGA and other DoD platforms.
• Resolve installation, infrastructure, data flow, and log ingest issues in both development and production environments
• Responsible for gathering monthly and quarterly metrics for customer review
• Perform daily administration tasks for Elasticsearch clusters and environments
• Work in an Agile environment: estimate features and user stories, participate in developing sprint roadmaps, analyze user stories, develop design and architecture elements to support user story and / or feature development
• Automate ingestion and enrichment processes, and implement alerting and reporting features.
• Document system behavior, data flows, and operational procedures.
• Work in DevSecOps environment with automated CI/CD pipelines
• Participate in design reviews
• Develop mockups and wireframes
• Conduct peer reviews and code reviews

Required Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in related discipline plus 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or master’s with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience
• Experience as a software developer, integrator, administrator, or similar technical role
• Experience in scripting and automation (e.g., Python, Bash)
• 5 or more years of demonstrable experience designing, developing, and deploying solutions using the Elastic stack, including: Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats.
• Experience with Grok patterns within Logstash and the usage of pattern file
• Experience with Elastic stack security features, such as client authentication, SSL/TLS configuration, and role-based document filtering
• Must be DoD-8570/8140 Level 2 compliant
• Experience with Elastic stack security features, such as client authentication, SSL/TLS configuration, and role-based document filtering
• Strong documentation skills with a proven ability to develop troubleshooting guides, standard operating procedures, architecture diagrams, etc.
• Highly autonomous, self-directed, and proactive when it comes to maintaining system infrastructure and log data integrity
• Experience working with Agile tools such as Jira / Confluence etc.
• Experience with large systems, index lifecycle management, elastic snapshots to s3
• Experience with Ansible
• Familiarity with DoD environments and secure system practices

Preferred Skills/Experience

• Elastic Certified Engineer
• Experience with container orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience working in a production environment with strict availability/uptime requirements
• Experience with authentication protocols (SAML, OIDC).
• Understanding of IDAM concepts, including user authentication and authorization workflows.
• Ability to analyze and verify large datasets for integrity and insight.
• Knowledge of NGA systems or IC/DoD mission context.
• Working knowledge of containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of common DevOps tools such as: Ansible, Gitlab
• Kafka setup and tuning for elastic usage
• Searchguard authentication experience
• Experience working in a production environment with strict availability/uptime requirements
• Experience or familiarity with identity, credential, and access management (ICAM) technologies and concepts
