As a Cloud Backend Engineer, you will dive deep under the hood of our hyper-scale public cloud backend. Sitting at the intersection of physical hardware, software-defined networking, and infrastructure automation, you will be key to keeping our core platform secure, resilient, and highly innovative.
Platform Evolution: Solve complex infrastructure and backend challenges in the daily operations of a massive public cloud environment.
Hands-on Systems Engineering: Work directly at the console, bridging the gap between high-level cloud services and underlying hardware.
Infrastructure Reliability: Design, build, and maintain robust monitoring and quality assurance pipelines to guarantee continuous service excellence.
End-to-End Automation: Consistently automate deployment, maintenance, and scaling tasks using industry-standard infrastructure automation frameworks.
Collaborative Engineering: Thrive within an open, trusting, and highly collaborative team of engineering specialists who actively support one another.
Your Profile
Education: Completed university studies in Computer Science, Engineering, a related scientific field, or equivalent practical and professional training.
Experience: 5–7 years of hands-on professional IT experience, with a sharp focus on modern cloud-native architectures.
Deep Network Expertise: Outstanding, practical knowledge of Software-Defined Networks (SDN), routing, firewalls, and physical network topologies.
Systems Depth: Advanced proficiency in Linux environments and network-related services.
Automation Focus: Proven, extensive experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration management automation frameworks.
Agile Mindset: Comfortable navigating agile development and operational environments with a strong customer-first perspective.
Analytical Rigor: The capability to critically evaluate complex technical architectures and design innovative, creative solutions to operational bottlenecks.
Location & Compliance: You must live and work within the European Union to fulfill our customers’ strict data privacy and security requirements.
Language: Fluency in written and spoken English and fluency in the language of the country of residence, except German, which would be considered as an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
Hands-on engineering experience within the OpenStack ecosystem.
Active programming experience or a track record of contributions within the open-source software community.
