The engineering team plays a central role in driving this mission, tackling large-scale infrastructure challenges, building developer platforms, and delivering backend systems that directly impact both customers and restaurant operators. As a Backend Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing and scaling systems that power mission-critical applications. Depending on your strengths and interests, you’ll have opportunities to focus on infrastructure, platform, or product development. Key responsibilities include:
Architecting and implementing scalable backend systems and APIs.
Building secure, high-performance infrastructure to support rapid growth.
Developing APIs, tools, and services to accelerate developer productivity.
Powering customer-facing applications with seamless backend services.
Collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering peers.
Ensuring system reliability, performance, and security.
Participating in code reviews, testing, and documentation to maintain high standards.
(For senior candidates) Mentoring junior engineers and leading projects.
Strong proficiency in backend programming (e.g., Java, Go, or Node.js).
Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Exposure to large-scale data processing or event-driven architectures.
Experience mentoring or leading teams.
