Software Developer Jobs in Cyprus: Salaries, Employers and Visas

Cyprus is a small but busy market for software engineers. Fintech, forex, online gaming and SaaS companies cluster in Limassol, while Nicosia has a mix of enterprise and gaming teams. Many of these companies hire internationally, and some roles can be done remotely. This guide covers where the jobs are, what they pay, how visas and tax work, and how to apply.

Where the developer jobs are

Limassol is the main hub for fintech, forex, iGaming and SaaS. Companies often associated with engineering hiring there include Exness, eToro, Capital.com, BrainRocket and inDriver. Nicosia is more enterprise- and gaming-oriented, with teams linked to Wargaming, Microsoft, IBM, SAP and Amdocs. Larnaca and Paphos have fewer tech roles. These lists come from public directories and may be out of date, so always check the current openings. You can browse live listings on our developer jobs in Cyprus page.

What software developers earn in Cyprus

Salary data for Cyprus is patchy, and sources disagree. Self-reported data on Levels.fyi puts mid-level developers at roughly €55,000 to €85,000 a year, while Glassdoor samples and recruiter data show mid-level pay closer to €28,000 to €50,000 and senior pay between about €48,000 and €90,000. The gap mostly reflects who is reporting: international companies pay more than local employers, and fully remote roles for foreign employers are often quoted at €60,000 to €120,000 or more. Cloud, AI/ML and senior DevOps roles tend to sit at the top of each range. Treat all of these as rough estimates, not offers.

Limassol typically pays 15 to 25 percent more than Nicosia for similar roles, but rent is much higher. One cost-of-living dataset puts a one-bedroom city-centre flat at around €1,300 a month in Limassol against about €700 in Nicosia, so take-home value can be similar.

In our listings, backend roles in Java, C#, Node.js and Python appear most often, followed by React and TypeScript frontend roles, plus DevOps, cloud and data engineering. Browse the specialised pages for Java, Node.js, backend, frontend and DevOps jobs.

Work permits and visas

EU citizens can live and work in Cyprus without a work permit. For non-EU nationals, there is no self-sponsored work visa: the employer applies for a combined residence and work permit tied to a specific role. Companies of foreign interests can use a fast-track route through the Business Facilitation Unit, which reportedly requires a gross monthly salary of at least €2,500 for highly skilled staff, and a first permit usually takes a few months once documents are ready. Cyprus also issues the EU Blue Card for highly qualified workers, including ICT roles, which allows moves within the EU after 12 months. Rules and thresholds change, so confirm them with the Cyprus Migration Department or the Business Facilitation Unit before you accept an offer or resign from your current job.

Tax for new arrivals in 2026

Cyprus reformed personal taxation from 1 January 2026. The first €22,000 of income is taxed at 0 percent, followed by bands of 20, 25, 30 and 35 percent above that. Reports on the reform also describe reliefs for people starting work in Cyprus, including a 50 percent exemption on employment income above €55,000 for people who were not Cyprus residents for the previous 15 years, and a 25 percent relief capped at €25,000 for starters between 2025 and 2030. These rules have conditions and are one-time, so check your case with a Cyprus tax adviser. This section is general information, not tax advice.

Remote work

Some Cyprus employers hire fully remote, and many offer hybrid schedules. If you want to work from anywhere, see remote developer jobs and our guide to remote developer jobs in 2026.

How to apply

Keep your CV to one or two pages and lead with your recent stack and projects. State your location, notice period and whether you need relocation or visa support, since many employers filter on this early. Apply through the listing, and follow up after a week or two.
